{"id":140,"date":"2010-09-27T12:41:54","date_gmt":"2010-09-27T16:41:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mpagano.com\/blog\/?p=140"},"modified":"2010-09-27T12:42:11","modified_gmt":"2010-09-27T16:42:11","slug":"wanted-stable-gentoo-sources-2-6-35-rx","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mpagano.com\/blog\/?p=140","title":{"rendered":"Wanted: Stable gentoo-sources-2.6.35-rX"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Why isn&#8217;t any version of gentoo-sources 2.6.35 stable?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There exists a bug that appears with the combination of the dhcpcd module from baselayout-1 and kernel versions &gt;= 2.6.35.<br \/>\nSince we could not use a stable kernel with a stable baselayout, arch teams were not keen on stablizing the kernel alone.<\/p>\n<p>We have been working on the dhcpcd fix in <a href=\"http:\/\/bugs.gentoo.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=262097\">bug #262097<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We have a working patch and Vapier has blessed, committed it and then released a new baselayout which uses it; baselayout-1.12.14.<\/p>\n<p>On the other side, WilliamH and some others are working to stablize openrc which will make baselayout 1 obsolete.\u00a0 We are attacking this issue from both ends which will eventually result in a stable 2.6.35 kernel.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, if anyone wants to test the new baselayout-1, please do so and report any bugs.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the following users and developers for reporting, testing and contributing to the patch.<\/p>\n<p>Paul B.
